REY CERUTO
I am a Cuban musician graduated from the Amadeo Roldan Provincial Conservatory of the City of Havana. Since I was little, it was clear to me that I wanted to dedicate myself to music and brighten people’s souls with my art. Before starting my career as a professional, I worked with the brass band of the great Buena Vista Social Club musician, maestro Enriquez Lazaga, with whom I participated in UNEAC Festivals, Cha Cha Cha “Enrique Jorrin” Festivals and in the Danzon Festivals since 2004 to 2008.
I was part of highly recognized international projects such as concerts at the Athlantic Jazz Festival, Acadia University, among others. Later, I joined the Jazz Band of Joaquin Betancourt, a great Cuban teacher, producer, musician and arranger with whom I had the joy of playing at various Jo Jazz and Jazz Plaza Festivals, and being part of his first record works. I shared work in concert with musicians of the stature of Wynton Marsalis, Orlando “Maraca” Valle, Ruy Lopez Nussa, Ernan Lopez Nussa, Yaroldy Abreu, Zunilda Remigio, Pablo FG, Alain Daniel, Emilio Vega among others.
I was as a member of projects such as the Septet Son Tradition, Orquesta Tumbao Habana, Orquesta Yurumí y sus Hermanos, Son Caturla (Buena Vista Social Club), Orquesta de Tania Pantoja among others.
I had the honor of participating in various international tours in Latin America, the United States and Europe, interacting in projects of great Cuban singers such as Sixto “El Indio” Llorente (former singer of the Manolito Simonet Orchestra), Mayito Rivera (former singer of the Los Van Van Orchestra) and the singer “Nene”.
I currently live in Germany since 2018 where I work as a drum teacher at the renowned Jamclub or Drumcenter school. I continue working on projects of international artists from the patio and fortunately in 2020 I created my own project Ceruto’s Band which was invited to the Latin Summer Festival in Tübingen, Germany
